New problem!!
I was dumping video in my Renommee when I noticed the audio had quit. I looked up and it wasn't just the audio it had gone back to the menu screen. I stopped my VTR and tried to go the edit screen and it flashed the edit screen for just a fraction of a second but wouldn't go there. I shut it down and tried again. It didn't work, in fact it won't go any where system setting, project settings video settings, finish screen nothing. The finish screen comes up where I can see it but it goes back to the front page. Can anyone help? I am dead in the water and I have a ton of work. Thanks in advance. Bob...
PS: I tried changing Hard drives and that didn't change any thing.

Re: New problem!!
Try pulling the USB-Keyboard connection, then OK?
Is for chance there something lying on your keyboard pressing down a key?

Re: New problem!!
Isn't this board wonderful??? I love you Hans! So many miles between us and you solved my problem. I had a heavy cable routed behind my key board and it had some how gotton on top of my key board amd had the escape key depressed. I thank you my friend, and all my little customers that are patiently waiting for their video thank You too. I had gone in the house thinking I was done for the day. On one hand it was a good feeling, I picked up the book I have been reading and got me a soda and was fixing to hunker down in my recliner and read and snozze. On the other hand I need to get my work done. Thanks again. Bob...

Re: New problem!!
Well Not so quick I guess. I have my edit screen back up and every thing else seems to be coming up but for some reason my audio on the already recorded scenes are now so low I can't hear them. I tryed another scene and the audio sounded fine going in but was again low when I played it back and this audio was recorded after my esc key problem. UIt doesn't seem to matter if its in the scene bin or the story board its real low on playback. Hans whay now? Bob...

Bob, glad you found the ESC-Problem
Have you checked playing your audio in the audio menu?
How is the level on the levelmeter? Here OK or down also?

Re: New problem!!
Its down there also Hans. I tryed shutting down and rebooting and that didn't help. Now heres a strange thing. I finished a piece last night and rendered it while I slept and burned a dvd this morning. I just went to that project and it plays alright in the scene bin, the story board and the audio screen. There is something strange about that new project. SCRATCHING MY HEAD!!!!! Bob...

Re: New problem!!
Well, I assume it has to do with your input.
I don't know if it's DV, HD or even analog?
USB or Firewire?

Re: New problem!!
firewire. I don't see how that could be because when I input it it sounds good. VU meter is up but when I play it back the meter is wiggleing but doesn't have enough to even get in to the yellow. Now I am really scratching my head. I put one of the tapes from the project I edited last night and it sounds good on the play back. HUH??? My math is bad but 2 + 2 does still equal 4 doesn't it. SOmething is rotton in Denmark. To my Danish friends thats jus an American saying signaling frustration. No offense intended. What now? The tape sounds good going in. Could there be something on the tape causing it? Until the ESC problem I hadn't listened to the play back on that project but It sounds good going in. I have never seen this in 27 years of this busiiness. Of course at my age maybe I don't remember. LOL! Bob...
PSS: It must be that camera those 2 tapes were recorded with. I got a tape from a project shot with that camera that I haven't edited yet and it played fine in playback. I got a tape from Camera 2 of the same shoot that I have a problem and it plays back all right. I am going to lunch and when I get back I am going to get the camera in question out and record a little with it and see what it does. Thanks Hans. Bob..

Re: New problem!!
Bob, try inputting from a tape that was used previously which had correct audio level.
Avoid hot swapping of firewire cables. Always swap cable with cam off.
Try to use a different firewire cable or try to use a different cam for input.
I hope you did not hot swapping of FW cables, if so there could be a damage of FW-card
either in casa or cam.
Hope this is some help.

Re: New problem!!
Hans
I have already tried tapes shot before with the same camera and it was good. I tried a tape shot on the same shoot but another camera and it was good. I haven't touched my firewire connection. I went to get a bite to eat and my wife called me and her car broke down in town. When it rains it pours. Another American saying. I didn't get to the restaurant to eat. I think I am going to skip lunch its so late. I am going have to see if I need to go get my wife or what. How can it have good audio going in and bad on output That doesn't make sense to me. It seems its just that tape. I went to another project and got the same result with that tape. And its not just 1 tape. I shot on 2 tapes and they both are doing the same thing. Thats why I had thought I had eliminated the tape as the problem. It still may be the camera but how can it sound going in and bad out. That has me puzzled. Bob..
