If the shot has enough space, you could use the "zoom" effect to slightly "crop" the image. I use this effect sometimes for a slow zoom in effect. Just be carefull not to zoom it too much or you will lose resolution & quality. There is a pretty good tolerance though.

I had never heard of anyone trying to correct "barrel distortion" in video footage so I did a little searching around using the phrase "barrel distortion correction".
